A quick walk on the other side of Dee Why beach led me to a group of kitesurfers doing their stuff. they were friendly enough to give me some background on the sport and one of them (Rob) is a certified instructor and runs the kitesurfing.com.au website. he's been doing it for many years and one of his mates sells kitesurfing gears. they were saying the wind today wasn't ideal as it only was about 3-5 knots.. you need a minimum or around 15 knots of wind speed to get the adrenalin really pumping! kite surfing is considered an extreme sport.. an expensive sport if one ever decides to be really competitive. they usually need to upgrade every year. for beginners, 2nd hand equipment sell for a reasonable A$500.. And 2nd hand competition equipment will set you back a minimum of A$4,000!!! They give free lessons every wednesday i think.. could this be my next extreme sport after karting?? hmm... it also starts with a "k" !! ;) here's the link to their interesting site -->
